In search of opportunity, Polaroid commissioned Altitude to explore the integration of two image-capture technologies into a compact camera that had the potential to disrupt the market. Targeted at teens, the I-Zone Combo Camera encouraged users to explore their identity by interacting with the environment around them, and by capturing and sharing events and memories digitally or on film. The visual design of the camera communicates its dual functionality with a subtle pinch between the two lenses reinforcing the symbiotic relationship between the two technologies. The camera benefits the traditional instant film users by providing the option for digital image capture, and creates an opportunity for additional 'film burn' with the digital aficionado. Although never manufactured, the I-Zone Combo Camera provided a blueprint for Polaroid's future print digital camera business.
