Platform precedent.
DeWalt wanted to expand their growing cordless tool offering, and identified the need for multiple products to convert their corded product platforms to battery-powered offerings. Altitude was selected because of its reputation and extensive experience developing hand-held products with a high ergonomic content. The Altitude team developed an arched handle with a modified 'D' cross section for stability and comfort. The integrated finger guard serves a dual function, protecting fragile digits and providing structural support to the battery, which creates a well-balanced tool. The motor provides enough power for working on the hardest woods, as well as a non-marring, heavy-duty aluminum shoe to clamp the joiner down for stationary work. Preset depth stops enable the plate joiner to accommodate all common biscuit sizes. Altitude's solution was so successful it was adopted as the ergonomic standard for a full line of cut-off tools that utilized the same molded parts, but accommodated an alternate head.
