When Black & Decker asked Altitude to explore new product opportunities for its innovative and proprietary 'flexible cores' Ñ we recommended a 'loss-leader' brand extension. The new entry in the DeWalt line of rechargeable power tools was sold as a component of a cordless multi-tool kit to engender consumers to DeWalt's battery platform and encourage larger purchases. The Flexible Floodlight provides a rugged, versatile and brilliant lighting solution for the professional or amateur. The wide-angle beam is brighter than traditional flashlights and the flexible core allows for hands-free operation projecting the beam in any direction, whether standing it on its base, hanging it around a person's neck or suspending it from an overhead rafter or pipe. The lockable head clip offers versatility and convenience of a lantern. The extra-bright Xenon bulb maximizes the intensity of the beam. The strategy was so successful that the DeWalt Flexible Floodlight was rapidly introduced to retailers as a standalone product.
