Altitude’s design concept for a digital video-broadcast (DVB) player generated overwhelmingly positive response at the Consumer Electronics Show, proving to Delphi that there are indeed opportunities in the new field of portable live video content.

Envisioning the Next Generation of In-Car Entertainment

Delphi is a leader of in-car entertainment technology; one of its best-known partners is XM Satellite Radio. When the company was interested in exploring the appeal of delivering real-time, streaming video to automobiles, it called upon Altitude to design a device that could deliver video in a friendly, understandable format.

Delivering Value: Putting a Familiar Face on a New Medium

The DVB player is a hybrid, encompassing aspects of music players, video players, and video digital recorders. At the same time, it needs to have its own clearly defined look and functionality–and fit within the overall corporate brand. So, Altitude took as its starting point the language used by Delphi for its XM Satellite Radio players. The result: a device with its own personality anchored by familiar form and gesture. The DVB player is also adaptable. It is portable but includes a vehicle-adaptor mount and auxiliary antenna.
